But this battlefield's JUST RIGHT....apparently, "The United States wants to avoid any delays that would force its soldiers to fight in the heat of summer if they invade Iraq" Guess it's time to Get Your War On again. |

Yeah, pretty disappointing if it's true. I've always had a tremendous amount of respect for Townsend, not only for his music, but for his bravery in getting sober and sharing the experience with others. Apparently The Smoking Gun got hold of a document that seems to support to some degree what Townsend claims to be the truth. Also pretty disappointing: The American Music Awards...in a way, that goes without saying, but the increasingly tan and increasingly irrelevant Dick Clark's award show has stooped to new levels of vapidness with those foul-mouthed, fat-squirting sausages known as the Osbournes hosting, and special guest appearances by people like George Bush Sr., introducing Alabama for a special "Award of Merit". Only watched a couple minutes, but YIKES. |

So last year's trend was kidnapping kids and this year it's being a celebrity and getting caught with pornographic pictures of them. I'm not suggesting anyone is guilty before a trial but if so, how bored and brain dead do you have to be to get off on explicit photos of children? It makes me sick. downward spiral here Ian, I am back on track and will call you tuesday |

Something that used to confuse me quite a bit was the "Unemployment Rate". You'll notice that even in extremely bad economic times, the figure always seems to be between 4%-6%. That's because it doesn't actually represent the percentage of the US population that's unemployed, it's based on the numbers of people actually seeking unemployment benefits while they're unemployed. Workers who have given up (meaning they are not collecting unemployment benefits while looking for work) are neither employed nor unemployed, they are "discouraged workers" or "marginally attached". This article does a good job of summarizing the idea. And I still think everyone should snag this book on doublespeak. |

Too bad more of the world isn't following France's lead and asking our government to put up, or shut up. This war was planned since the last Gulf War ended. How I long for the days when we didn't have to hear about nuclear weapons being threatened every day. Oh wait, that was only two years ago because the world was fine before "baby Bush" took office.Where's the beef? |

It's amazing the things a Republican will resort to for some positive press.... fortunately for Bill Frist's media people, Florida adopted a good samaritan law in 2000; he otherwise would've probably kept driving. |

Well, another year is coming to a close at echopraxia.org. Oh wait - we only went on line in August 2002. Still, we're left wondering....will two wars be better than one? Will Canada and Mexico take this opportunity to finally attack? And the cloning issue: can you think of a single person you wish there were more than one of? so far my only newyears resolution is 2 impruv my riting skillz. |

Looking back on 2002, I have to marvel at how much time I wasted. A lot of that time was wasted worrying about things I couldn't control. This year I'm not going to worry about it. I spent my entire childhood nervous about nuclear war, but I'll be damned if I'm going to go through that again. Whatever happens, happens. I have more to blog, but no time. Off to work... More blogs later. |

Well, if you've ever wondered what Jesus REALLY looked like, Popular Mechanics thinks they have the answer. One problem though. How do you scientifically or forensically render an image based on one half of the subject's genetics being derived from a divine source? By the way, that is one UGLY SITE that magazine has..... Speaking of Jesus, isn't odd that no-one managed to get all three top-level domains for "Jesus"? Especially disturbing is Jesus.com, if you haven't seen it before. |

Not to get hung up the Trent Lott issue, but all that "Pontius Pilating" from the White House, combined with the likely appointment of of a new Bush butt-boy keeps this topic gnawing at me. Now we can blame it on Blogging! Reassuring though, that the man that will cause us all to contract Smallpox is now vaccinated. |

Just read that Woody Harrelson link from a couple posts down. He's a surprisingly common-sensical guy. While reading his little editorial, I almost felt like I was reading my own stuff. (Except for the part where he has the president's ear.) Terry, you should contextualize your links more --- they're usually quite interesting, but I often don't look at them because I'm busy and they don't say what they are...On that note, the original article from the Guardian is here, if anyone cares. |

...And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lott, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.... [Gen 19:15] Wow. I wonder who President Rove* has planned to replace Trent Lott? That's some pretty hard-core handwashing they're doing at the White House. Obviously some borderline socialist like myself (I approve of National Health Care) could hardly approve of Lott's moronic remarks at the Strom Thurmond (a.k.a. "Captain Pike" ) birthday celebration, but I saw this live, and in context his remark was clearly not implying all that the press suggests. Politics as usual, I guess. * "Karl Rove is described by some people as George Bush's
brain, and given that the president is sometimes said not to have
the largest intellect, Karl Rove becomes even more important"
By the way Terry, those were cool anti-war links below. We should consider adding some more links in the political resources page. |

Terry baby, a few things: 1.) Slow down the Vicodin intake. When Ann Coulter & Bill O'Reilly are getting to you, drugs MUST be involved. Perhaps we should take pointers from them. Yeah. Premium memberships at echopraxia.org. Problem is, most sane Americans would agree with what we say, which makes it relatively un-marketable. 2.) I could've told you O'Reilly likes Luther Vandross, Hall and Oates, and The Eagles just by looking at him. He also likes champagne enemas and has secret fantasies about Roseanne Barr & Rosie O'Donnell mudwrestling 3.) Ann Coulter writes columns? How can a person write with their head up their ass? I thought people as ignorant & self-obsessed as Ann Coulter only ran for president. 4.) That Accuracy.org link below was excellent. I've always wished there were a Greek Chorus for presidential speeches. For the Bush presidency the MST guys would be perfect. 5.) I don't see much going on with my Amazon Wish List. Wassup? |

Tonight I am learning more about the enemy. It is easy to strongly dislike a public figure because of a soundbite that makes them seem ignorant or biased or from a 2 second spot on CNN, but I have decided to truly combat these nutjobs, I need to develop a better understanding of what makes them tick? What is truly interesting is that both Bill O`Reilly and Ann Coulter have options available to give them "support," which means pay to hear their genius. Ann has a PayPal setup and Bill has a Premium membership. Legit journalism's favorite ear candy |
